You know your children do not do enough chores around the house when ...
You ask your son to help load the last dishes into the dishwasher and not only does he enthusiastically agree, but he also comments on how fun it is to rinse the dishes and asks if he can please do it more often, even when you are not around. As if you are doing him a favor by finally letting him participate in this super-fun activity you have been greedily keeping to yourself all these years.
Is this kid for real?
It looks like my strategy of not requiring my kids to do much of anything has finally paid off. Now it is time to exploit.

Let the exploitation begin, uh, continue!
As the father of the happy helpers (sister loves to help as well) I must concur with a hearty, "Hear, Hear!" Our efforts of requiring only the bare minimum of our children is indeed paying off.
I am barely able to lift a paper towel and Windex, hammer, leafblower, or chainsaw without a sincere "Can I help?" The last three items mentioned one can understand the appeal and a child's desire to wield simply due to the destrucTIVE POWER!
However, the attraction of the paper towel and Windex is still difficult to grasp. Perhaps in their mind (at least the boys, I can say this because I still am one) it's not just cleaning glass and fixtures - it's KILLING germs!
Uh, yes honey the taxes are almost done, back to work.
